Quoting
What is your standard lead time? As
of 8/07 we are working to a 12 week lead time on new
orders. We have many long-running and dedicated
manufacturing cells that feed defense plants around the
country. Most of the jobs in-house carry DX or DO
defense priority contact ratings. If your work carries a
priority designation our Production Manager will
schedule accordingly.
Can you make a prototype part? Yes
and no. Riverside makes pre-production parts for our
customers, but only if this is in conjunction with a
regular production contract. Any pre-production or
prototype part will be made using the same equipment,
tooling, and processes we will use for mass-production.
We understand that there may be a wait of months/years
before the production is authorized, but any samples are
supplied with the understanding that we will get the
production orders.
What types of part files can you read?
We can read Pro-E, Solid Works, AutoCAD, GIBBS,
VirtualGIBBS, TIF, and PDF files. If you have a file in
another format, let Sheldon know.
Can Riverside help with the design and/or
validation of my part? Riverside does not perform
validation of customer’s parts or designs. We
manufacture to specifications established by the
customer. All validation is the responsibility of the
customer. We excel at finding the leanest, most
cost-effective production method, and may offer
suggestions in ways to cut cost, but any suggestion must
be evaluated for impact by the customer.
Shipping & Receiving
What are your weight restrictions? We
can handle pallet-load up to 3,000 lbs. We have one
loading dock for direct access and two additional
shipping doors for flatbed side access. Riverside does
not have a bridge crane, all loads must be fork-truck
accessible. See our
Workmanship
Standards Manual for more information.
What shippers do you use? We
predominantly use UPS and Fed-EX, although we can use
whatever carrier you specify. We do not have any
recommended freight carrier, although we receive regular
shipments from Roadway.
Can you ship overnight? Yes, our
cutoff time for overnight shipping is 3:00PM Central
Time.
What about Air Currier service? We
are 45 minutes from the Minneapolis/St. Paul
International Airport (MSP) and can arrange to have your
shipment delivered to one of the services operating out
of that hub. Contact our Shipping Department for further
information.
Billing & Accounting
What are your terms and conditions?
Net 30. See our
Workmanship Standards Manual for more information.
Quality/ISO Questions
Can you host Source Inspections?
Yes, we have a designated area in out Quality Department
for outside source inspections. This area ensures that
your personnel have a desk and an uninterrupted area to
conduct inspections, with access to our CMM’s and other
equipment. We host several inspections each week.
To whom would I send a quality audit
questionnaire? You can send it to the attention of
Larry Miller at the main address. It can also be emailed
to
riversidemnf@riversidemnf.com
Do you audit and certify your
vendors/subcontractors? We do not require that our
outside service providers (painters, platers, heat
treaters, etc.) be ISO-9000 certified, but we do conduct
our own on-site audits to verify that they have adequate
quality controls. Also, when applicable, we use outside
service providers who carry certifications within their
field, such as NADCAP for platers. See our
Workmanship
Standards Manual for more information.
Can we send a representative to witness
inspections on our parts? Yes, in the past Riverside
has allowed customers to witness our first-article
inspections. This is done to verify that we are using
equipment capable of measuring the tolerances involved
and are qualifying the correct datums in the proper
sequence. Please let us know as early as possible so we
can schedule our inspection time around this
requirement.
Are your gages and inspection equipment
calibrated? Critical equipment such as our CMM’s are
calibrated by an outside agency, while common gages are
calibrated in-house. All calibrations are recorded and
available for review.
